What kind of product to use to dread your hair without going to a hair salon?

My hair can't grow no matter what i use... the back is really shor and the front is a kinda long but really thin, and i'm tired of it... once i shave my hair like a bold men and now either i did it again or eiter i do dread with what i have left, and i already made up my mind... what should i use...like shampoo, conditionner or gel or anything that can do the job...What kind of product to use to dread your hair without going to a hair salon?
To ';dread'; your hair, I suggest a Twist %26amp; Lock cream or gel... you can pick those up at any beauty supply store. You can also use beeswax.
