i am thinking about dyeing my hair and i do not know whether to get a semi-permanent hair dye, or a permanent hair dye. Please help! How long does a permanent hair dye from the salon typically last?
permanent means forever. Hair dye fades.
So there is no such thing, it is a scam. How long does a permanent hair dye from the salon typically last?
permanent - the clue is in the name! it lasts forever, but it does start to fade. depends on colour -reds apparently fade the fastest. you can minimise fade by using shampoos and conditioners for colour treated hair. if its a radically difft colour then go semi so you can decide if u really like it. semi-s last about 24 washes.
have fun!

Well this depends usually on the colour if it is far from your natiral colour like 6 weeks, but if its just a lighter colour it can last up to 3 months, depending on the colour and how you take care of it, Salon Shampoo, will do the trick and Herbal Essance Colour Me Happy, will also work too! Good Luck.
Im thinking between 5 to 7 weeks.
Permanent dye is supposed to last till your hair grows out, but it actually fades quite fast, especially if you're under the sun alot or wash your hair everyday.
Semi-permament lasts for about 8-14 washes
When your natural color starts to show.
Any permanent hair dye will last until your hair grows out and cut, as your hair grows you will have a two toned hair unless you redo the roots aleast once a month.
Good salons usually use high-quality dyes that long a long time. Stuff like Redken Shades EQ. In the hands of a skilled stylist you can get spectacular results, but yes, it costs $$$$
If you dye at home, try semi or demi permanent dyes. There are brands like Wella Color Charm Demi, which give halfway decent results. It lasts me several months, but the roots need a touch up each month. Sallys has a lot to choose from. Don't always do the ends bc they will keep darkening.
They also have permanent dye like Ion Brilliance, but I don't recommend going for the permanent dyes. I did that and my hair kept getting darker and darker and then the ends got black. Some people suggest going 2 shades lighter than you want, just in case since most end up darkening. Also get familiar with the color wheel and color science. You could buy a book or check out a website like www.hairboutique.com. Last, but not least, always do a patch-test to make sure you aren't allergic to any of the products. Get disposable gloves, a cap, a plastic bowl and brush to apply the color too.
permanent last about 4-6 weeks. A semi-permanent lasts about 8-10 shampoos! If you have gray, go with permanent, if you just want to try a colour out go with the semi. If it's a try-out consider just a gloss color.
