How do you know which lotion to pick when first starting tanning in a tanning salon?

Most tanning salons i've been to in the past, do not seem to know very much about their products.. help! How do you know which lotion to pick when first starting tanning in a tanning salon?
Lotions can be difficult to choose from, especially if the staff are not properly trained on the differences. In the case of tanning products, and most products for that matter, the more expenseive = the higher quality. You get a better/stronger accelerator, better moisturizer, better feel on your skin, more antioxidants/nutrients, and better fragrances.

Let's say for example, you were starting a 3 month membership, then I would start with their basic lotion (around $20) for the 1st month and then move up to their better products ($30 -$40). Their best products ($50-$70) are awesome but if it's out of your price range then don't worry about it.

If you only are tanning for a 1 month period for vaction for example, try using a better lotion cause you are going to tan faster.

NEVER use Hawaiian Tropic, etc. from wal-mart/drug store, these are from SPF companies dabbling in tanning and are full of chemical fillers. NEVER order online because it could be old, stored improperly, contaminated, under-filled, or re-filled with something else. Only buy indoor tanning products from an indoor tanning studio.
