How do i grow dreadlocks without going to the salon?

i want to put my hair into dreadlocks with home made remedies. How do i grow dreadlocks without going to the salon?
Neglect your hair. It worked for me now I am the most popular kid in school. How do i grow dreadlocks without going to the salon?
stop washing, cutting and combing your hair.
don't wash your hair and don't do any combing. It will smell funky after a while.
do not de-tangle. Back-combing will also speed up the process.
Don't wash your hair for a year.
YOU CAN';T

HAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAH
Don't wash or comb your hair for a while.
Go to a retail beauty products store such as Sally, or Ruby Red and get a product called Lock and Grow Gel. It's in a yellow and white container, and you part your hair diagonally starting from the back. In sections, apply the gel and twist your hair until it's firm. Follow instructions on label.
People telling you not to wash your hair are not very knowledgeable about hair-locking. Products like gels and waxes are also not optimal for locking as they cause build-up and may hinder the locking process rather than aid it. Of course, you must keep your hair and scalp clean.

Are you trying to achieve a lock effect or do you actually want to lock your hair? You can achieve a lock effect with products like Molding Mud which washes out. But actually locking your hair is a PROCESS. You don't put your hair into locks, they grow into a permanent locked pattern with or without cultivation depending on your hair type.

The technique for locking your hair is going to depend on its texture. If your hair is kinky, you can twist it, palm-roll or braid it to start locks. If your hair is curly, you can use the twist method also. If your hair is straight, I would recommend you consider going to a loctician to achieve the look you want.

BTW...I don't 'know someone' with locks, I HAVE them. so good luck on your journey. Give careful thought to what you want to achieve. If you want to GROW your hair into locks, I can give you some other references that will work for you.
