How do i open my own tanning salon?

Hey everyone,

I am 17 and i am in college, while in college i have been thinking about opening my own tanning salon. How can i open one when i have no money and no credit? Is there organizations or people i can go to? Could i get some grants even though im under age? Can my boyfriend get a grant for me even though he doesnt have any money or good credit either???How do i open my own tanning salon?
Tanning salons just underwent a large amount of bad publicity regarding skin cancer, etc. Therefore, I do not think this is the best current business idea. How do i open my own tanning salon?
Search the sites of www.tantoday.com and www.tantalk.com. I think it will be an eye opener for you. I have seen posters state that you need around $200,000.00 to open a salon. Depending on how big you want, it will not be that much. Leasing the equipment is an option. I know someone who said she would never go that route again. She paid about 3 times the cost of the beds in only 3 years. I would not recommend getting that deep in debt at 17. I do not think it is even legal for someone under 18 to sign a contract in some states.
grants are usually for non profit organizations

there are SBA loans but unless it is something like $1000000, there are not many 'small' loans out there

a tanning salon has a lot of liability and unless you have lots of money and plenty of liability insurance, not a good idea

What is the difference between a hair salon and barber shop?

A salon typically offers a full menu of services for women (color, texturizers, cuts, waxes, makeup, nails, etc) and the same services are available for men. Barber shops specialize in men's hair cuts (shears and clippers), hair designs (using trimmers), and facial hair care. But services vary depending on state regulations. What is the difference between a hair salon and barber shop?
Barber Shops are more old style, and Hair Salons are more new styles and Barber shops charge less usually and hair salsons charge more usually. What is the difference between a hair salon and barber shop?
About $50! ;-)

Plus, at a salon, they are always up on the latest looks and color techniques.

How can i advertise my mobile nail salon to businesses?

I made a really nice flyer and obtained the fax number of various businesses and started submitting my flyer by fax to advertise my mobile salon business. Are there other ways to marketHow can i advertise my mobile nail salon to businesses?
You can drive by large business parking lots and hand deliver your flayers. That way people will visit you at their lunch break to get their nails done. Try Colleges mostly. Most of the students have no time to run to salons if you come to them they will be happy to pay you for your services. I teach music and people come to my home to learn at their lunch break and I think this will work. Also make sure your mobile salon carry visible exterior color and signs.

  • On average, how much does it cost to get your hair colored at a salon?

I want my hair colored at a salon, but I'm not going to if it costs way too much. It's not a high class salon, but it's not a low class chain salon like SuperCuts. What would you say is the average price of getting hair coloring done at a salon like that?On average, how much does it cost to get your hair colored at a salon?
it depends where you live at but for girls probabaly around $60 average. On average, how much does it cost to get your hair colored at a salon?
I know you say that you want to go to a salon, but the salons i go to can cost 300 dollars. I suggest you color by box. Thats what i do. Just make sure to use the conditioner that it comes with and take a comb and comb the color through your hair.
It really depends on your location and hair length.

I live in the Midwest, and go to an upscale salon. I pay $110 for cut, color, and highlight. I believe just color alone might be in the area of $50-$60.
Well it cost me $150 for a cut.

    $200+ for color.

    $250+ for perm/chemically straightening.

    $100+ style.

My face got burned at the tanning salon today. Should I wear sunblock on just my face?

I use the stand up bed so transfer of the sunblock to the machine is not an issue. But I have really sensitive facial skin. Should I just wear sunblock on my face? Or should I put it all over my body? Thanks. My face got burned at the tanning salon today. Should I wear sunblock on just my face?
Since you are doing it to help with acne, I would put sunblock everywhere except where the acne is. You could even use a sunblock with a low spf on the acne areas. If you just put it on your face, you will look funny with a white face and everything else is dark. Then you will have to use make up and try to get it to match exactly...ugh...too much work. To help acne, you only need minimal exposure. Like 5 mins in a week bed. I had a friend that had acne and started tanning. She loved that it cleared her skin, but the longer she was in the bed and the stronger the bed, the more her skin produced oil to counter act the effects of the tanning (drying of the skin). It got so bad that if she went longer than a day without tanning, her skin broke out really bad everywhere. Skip the stand up bed and use a regular one for like 5 mins. You mins will last longer, your skin will clear up, and you won't look really fake. My face got burned at the tanning salon today. Should I wear sunblock on just my face?
drink loads of water you could use a protection factor 10 or 15 when in sunbed put loads of moisturiser on and a cold cloth Will help take away the sting

How much should you tip the beauty salon people who do manicures/pedicures?

I recently had a mani/pedi combo done, that cost $38. There was a girl doing my hands, then one doing my feet. They did a good job. How much is a good tip for them each? How much should you tip the beauty salon people who do manicures/pedicures?
About 7 or 8 bucks, because they did a really good job. Most people just do 5 bucks tip.How much should you tip the beauty salon people who do manicures/pedicures?
Yeah, if I had to touch someone's feet I'd want it to be *a lot*...
$5 For both of them would be fine! 10 to 15 % of the cost is good enough! More importantly you should treat them well! Kind words, praise, etc!!!
Normally I tip $10 for my feets (I'm a guy and ok with getting pedicures). I'd probably do the same for the hands. You want to take care of these people, they are making you look good by working pretty hard.
    I tip 20%
the first time I get a pedicure/manicure from a new salon I will give them over 50% but that is so they will know I will pay them better for a good job. If the job isn't as good the next time I will drastically drop it. But standard should always be 15% (10% says cheap and 20% says push over- more than 20% says take care of this person and they'll put your kids thru college every time they come in). I do the same thing with my hair salon too. But this is something that I value most about my appearance and I will budget the money to make that possible. I'm not rich but its SO WORTH IT! Hope that helps
    5$
I stick with the 20%-%30 on this. In this case that would be $8-$12 total. Keep in mind what you are paying and what it's for. It probably took about 30 minutes. So you are paying someone $40 an hour already. They don't actually get that but the owner does. A lot of that goes to over head but the fact still remains that is how much an engineer gets paid an hour and these people are just cleaning your nails. I still do a tip when I get mine done because the worker usually doesn't get that money.

Can anyone recommend a good black hair salon in the Boston area?

I don't know where you live, but there are quite a few on Blue Hill Avenue. Take the Orange line to Forest hills station, and catch the No. 31 bus to Blue Hill Avenue. You will see a number of salons on the bus's way to Mattapan Square.

    Tattoos and tanning salons?

I have three tattoos and i would like to go to the tanning salon a couple times to build up a base tan for a wedding in a couple months. Is there any kind of product i can use to help protect my tats w/o ruining them or make them fade.Tattoos and tanning salons?
    a) tanning beds are terrible for your health.

    b) UV light makes the cells that hold that ink break up, and the colours bleed. which eventually looks awful.

    c) if you're going to do it anyhow, SPF 75+Tattoos and tanning salons?
sunblock with an spf of 45 or better uva and uvb to cover the tats as long as they are healed, if not, skip the tanning, i have always done this and my oldest tat looks as fresh as my newest. mos of my ink is colors hat range from white to black, with blues, reds, yellows, and many in between
i have three tattoos also and when i got my first two the guy told me to put sun protectant lip balm on them before i tan. he said it will still allow the skin around your tats to tan but it will also protect them from things like fadeing. hope this helps!
Get a high SPF sunscreen stick. That way you can cover just the art and have control over where you put the sunscreen. I always use SPF 50 or higher.

Brow dyeing? Anyone tried using hair dye for that? Or know of a good salon who do that in London?

I want to dye my eye brows two shades lighter, but cant find a proper brow dye in shops. Where can I find a professional brow dye or hair salon who do that?Brow dyeing? Anyone tried using hair dye for that? Or know of a good salon who do that in London?
I think Nair do a facial bleaching kit which can be used on eyebrows, follow the instructions carefully tho or you could end up with orange eyebrows. Boots sell all Nair products.Brow dyeing? Anyone tried using hair dye for that? Or know of a good salon who do that in London?
its likely you wont find it in shops, however i know boots the chemist used to stock a weak version of lash tint so you might find it in there. and for godsake dont use hair dye! the dye for brows isnt as heavy, its the same one they use for lashes so its about 2cm of tint and 10 drops of hydrogen peroxide and thats it.

i have only ever seen 3 colours of tint, black, brown and grey (for blonde or white haired people) i have never used a brown tint as its not in demand with my customers but i dont believe it will lighten your brows if you have dark brown brows.

google your local area for beauty salons and call them to see what colours the stock. it should only take about 15 minutes in total and hair salons may not do it as you have to be qualified to do it and have specific insurance due to the hydrogen peroxide and potential problems it can create in that area.
if u notice on hairdye boxes, it always says ';not for use on eyebrows, eyelashes or pubic hair'; theres a reason for that. Go to a salon and get it done.
do not use hair dye its just too strong for this area, you will get a brown tint from salon services or sally they are open to the public as well as trade or any salon product distributor
don't use hair dye for your eyebrows! Boots definitely sell eyebrow dye kits.
i did it by accident once......

Is it crazy to open a nail salon with the way this economy is?

I have a feeling that when it comes to health and beauty women will still find a way to pay for these things. Am I wrong? Any advice? Is it crazy to open a nail salon with the way this economy is?
no its not crazy overhead is low and your product is cheap.

your selling a service just give good service do something not every nail salon does

Do it!Is it crazy to open a nail salon with the way this economy is?
It is not advisable, but if you have the funds and really want to do it, go for it.
It depends on where you are, but in general, yes it would be crazy to open a business right now whose customers perceive the service or product as non-necessary discretionary spending. The exceptions are the very top of the market (you'll be going to their house for salon services), and the very bottom of the market (salon in a mall for $10 per person - cheap entertainment, cheaper than the movies).
Instead of simply tossing the idea around in your head, get some hard numbers on paper and see how you feel at that point. Take a look at the link below, the article gives tips on taxation, license %26amp; permits and most importantly how to get a free business mentor.

(we are staying at the fallsview Marriott) Does anyone know where I can go to get great hair and makeup on my wedding day, as near to the hotel as possible?Niagara Falls Hair Salons?
I don't think you will find a good place in that area of Niagara Falls. I recommend looking up Gira Sole near Valley Way or Picasso's at the Niagara square. Neither will take you a long time to get to considering Niagara Falls is pretty small.Niagara Falls Hair Salons?

How much should you tip when you go to the nail salon?

how much do you tip when you get your nails done? Pedicure? Waxing? How much should you tip when you go to the nail salon?
It should be just like any other tip and should be 15% to 20% of your total. So it you spend $50 at the nail salon, 15% would be $7.50 and 20% would be $10--you would just have to choose which one. It doesn't have to be exact, but that is what you should be considering when giving any tip.How much should you tip when you go to the nail salon?
    I'd say 5 dollars
    i tip $10 or $15
i tip around 10-20% of the total cost, depending on how pleased i am with my nails!!
If I get a refill, it's $25 (pink %26amp; white) so I tip $5. If I get them taken off and a full set, I'll tip $10. If I get nail plus pedicure, I'll tip $15. It just depends on how good I think they are and how much I've spent.
I only tip like 5 bucks.
i tip them for a pedicure $4 well i dont go to a really nice one. it depends on where you go to get it done
depens on how good the person was
    i always tip five no matter what. even if its a 5 dollar wax - cause remember, when u go back - they remember you. you dont ever want to hear ';oops';

Do you have to have a license to do airbrush tanning at a salon?

I live in Louisiana and want to perform airbrush tanning. I was wondering if you needed a license or if there were any training available in this area?Do you have to have a license to do airbrush tanning at a salon?
    no.

but its unhealthy.Do you have to have a license to do airbrush tanning at a salon?
Not sure about your state but most require you to have at least a esthetics's license to apply anything to the skin. Call your local Health dept for further info.
no, but insurance is a good idea, as well as some informal training. its quick and easy to learn. it does take alot of practice on all types of bodies to become good at it. And it is not harmful, use a mask to filter the air in the room. It is very sticky and messy, so you want to have good ventilation, lighting and walls that can be washed. with at least 10 by 10 feet of space.
No u don't. but it is very unhealthy 4 ur skin. if u get skin cancer, don't come crying home!

How much would it cost for my hair bleached blonde all over, UK salon prices please?

I was wondering how much it would be to have my hair fully bleached blonde. UK salon prices please. Thanks (:How much would it cost for my hair bleached blonde all over, UK salon prices please?
It completely depends on the type of salon and the area in the UK. I get a full head of highlights which in the past has cost anything from 拢40 to 拢65. With it being bleaching I would go somewhere really good, recommended by a friend, or one of the salons on the good hairdressers guide:

Looking for a nice dog grooming salon to start my career?

I live in the san gabriel valley in CA (los angeles county). I just finished my formal training. MOst of my training are hands on. I am pretty comfortable with the dogs now, I am looking for a job but can't seem to find a nice dog grooming salon in my area.Looking for a nice dog grooming salon to start my career?
Try this link - it is a groomer site which has listing for jobs. You can answer or place ad for a job. Asking vet for referrals to the better salons will also provide leads - they sometimes know which shops are looking for groomers or which ones to avoid. Some shops look good on the outside but either do crappy grooming or overcharge for their quality of services or not kind to the pets. I know excellent groomers who tend to be heavy handed on other ppl dogs since their dogs are show %26amp; so used to being groomed.

http://www.groomers.net/Looking for a nice dog grooming salon to start my career?
Nice as in clean, Then I would go through the phone book and look for Grooming Salons in your area and give them a visit, just walk in have a look around if you like what you see then introduce your self and let them know you are looking for a job. Or you can do a google search of Salons in your area.
if you wnat to look for a pet grooming job maybe a animal store whould be good choice like pet-smart what you could also do is go on mapquest or something and put up pet shop or pet grooming company in the ';buisness'; part hope it helps :D
go to a place which is popular so that you can get more cash and get more time with dogs!!!!!!!!

please explain your opinon wisely..Shoild tanning salons be held responible for skin cancer?
No I do not think that they should be held responsible. It is a free choice that is made. People in today's society do not want to take responsibility for their actions, and to me that sounds like one more thing that they want to blame on someone else...Shoild tanning salons be held responible for skin cancer?
Should McDonald's be responsible for Diabetes ?

What we do with our bodies, what we put in out mouth is all done by choice.

    We reap what we sow.

Most pople when they look back on their life, say ';What if';......and that is the sad part .
Well, if they drag people in off the street and force them under the lamps, yes.

Otherwise, people freely choose to go in there and expose themselves to UV rays. They even pay money to do it. Just like smoking.
No, everyone has free will to what they please. One does not have to use tanning salons services
No, they don't force people to the tanning beds.

A one time spray tan is about $20.00. Prices on lay down beds vary. Level one usually costs $6, level two $9, level three $15. But if you've never been tanning before I suggest using the level one bed otherwise you'll burn. How much would a spray or bed tan be at a local tanning salon for a one time tan?
well spray tans can range from 15-30 dollars for a one time thing, and beds can be like 10$ and up...it really all depends where you go =]]
Well, I wouldn't recomend a tanning booth or spray tan, anyway. They look really fake and bad, to me. They make you look like oompaloompas.
a one time spray here in tennessee is about $30.00, and a 1 time bed tan is $6.00
the tannin salon where i work we have California Tan Airbrush Tanning for $30 per visit. That's the tan that the celebs (paris, britney, nicole, etc.) get at sunset. the company is california tan.

How much is your haircut...and how often do you go to a salon?

If you have kids, how much is their haircuts, and is there a price difference for boys and girsl?

Does your salon charge more for women's haircuts than for men's? Thanks ahead for your response!

PS. What region of the country do you live? How much is your haircut...and how often do you go to a salon?
Hi! I hate to admit this, but I have my husband cut my hair. I live in the southeast region of the U.S. Haircuts for women start at around $40 bucks a piece and up in a private salon (versus a WalMart cut). My hair grows so quickly, I would spend all my beauty cash on hair dye and cuts! LOL! My husband is able to get his haircut for about $10...I've often wondered about men vs. women haircut prices...My husband usually gets more cut off and the style requires more precision, yet I get charged more!?! I get a salon haircut about 2 or 3 times a year, then let my husband cut my split ends. He almost cries everytime I ask him to do this! How much is your haircut...and how often do you go to a salon?
i live in london. im a hairdresser and charge 26 pounds around 50 dollars for a mans cut and 35 pounds around 70 dollars for a ladies cut. children 18 pounds in dollars thats about 30 dollars.

You are not going to believe me on this but , i pay only two

dollars , i go to Salon once a month , and i pay just 2 dollars

including the tips too i swear , i live in Egypt , where

One Dollar = Five Egyptian Pounds ,

Its Heaven here for prices right !!!

Good Luck come and visit Sharm El Sheikh
    65 dollars every 6 weeks
I live across the bridge from Washington, DC. Prices are not that awful here, except for real estate, which is still going up.

I quit paying money to the greedy, blood-sucking barbers. I got a machine at the drugstore and now I give myself a crewcut whenever I need one. The secret is to go slowly. If you go too fast it won't do much cutting. When I finish cutting all my brown hair off, all I have left is this short white stuff. I put brown beard and mustache color on it. I always have a clean shave except on top of my head. Your hair has to be dry when you put the stuff on, or nothing will happen. After about five minutes, you wash it off.

When I was about 26, I was in a theater where they were getting ready to put on a play. One of the actors sprayed some stuff on his hair to make it white. I saw him age 20 years in 10 seconds. I never forgot that.
I dont have kids but I go to my stylist (im going Thursday) every year when I get a new hairstyle and every month to get it trimmed. I pay ALOT (well my mom) to get my hair like completely styled.

**EDIT** I live in New York by the way!
i live in india...i go 2 a l'oreal salon and prefer the same stylist for 6 yrs now...i pay approximately 500 rupees...that is 12 or 13 dollars...reasonable compared to the price standards in other countries like the US..The service is great..my stylist was trained at l'oreal and toni and guy..

ive noticed that men are charged a lil less for their haircuts..my brother pays a lot less than i do..n for kids its reasonable too...but there are many fancy salons for kids these days..n it can be pricey too..
I'm actually going to the salon in a few minutes to get a haircut, I'll come back %26amp; edit :)

    //

    EDIT!

Okay I just got my haircut.

My haircut was around 25 dollars or so with tax.

Yes there is a price difference, men's haircuts are less costly then women's haircuts but that makes sense, since men have shorter hair.

    I'm from Canada
I live in Dallas, TX. The last time I got my haircut it was $15, but the next time I get it cut it will be about $50 at least. Never pay for a haircut under $50 the chances of it being good are slim to none, dear.
I pay $60 for my haircut which includes the blowout and that is why I dont go often. But when she cuts my hair, it is totally sexy. I am sure men are cheaper, but I never see any there. I am in the North Jersey area.
I pay anywhere from $9.00-$11.00 for my haircut. I don't go to a salon I just go to a barber shop. I get a haircut once a month. I live in Nebraska.
New England, $26.00 for a wash, cut and blowdry, $20.00 for a child, plus $5.00 tip, every six weeks.
i usually go to a salon and i spend 65 to 75 on haircut depending on how i want it..
I splurge and get the best in the business - A guy at Regis who is very expensive but absolutely delivers. His haircuts are 70.00 each
I live on the East Coast...I pay $25 for my hair cut if I'm not coloring it. I go every 4-6 weeks...I think it is worth it though! Last time I went I cut off 12 inches and sent it to Locks of Love.
I live in Texas am a 30 year old male and me and my son both get our Hair cut at a place called 4.99$ Hair. It's run by two Vietnamese ladies and they do charge more for females but I wouldn't get my girls hair cut their because it's true you get what you pay for. I get it done every other Thursday. I get it cut 1';on the sides and back and scissor cut on top.
I live in Georgia. I get my hair trimmed every 6 weeks, I pay 13 dollars (not including tip).

10 dollars for kids 10 and under. Men and women are the same price.
I trim it here and there. She's too young to care about what's on her head right now. She always looks cute though. I'm in Los Angeles, CA. Women's hair cuts are usually 10 to 15% more then men's here (that's without the additional services) tipping is optional and dependent on cut.

You don't have to have a Nail Tech(Cosmetology License is all Hair Face and Nails.) license, But it'd be nice if you sort of read about Nail things, Because honestly there really isn't anything worse then someone who trys to manage a salon, and they know nothing about it....But you don't have to have a license, Put adds in the newspaper for Nail techs, and go to cosmetology Schools, and tell them your opening up a salon and give them your name and number, The school should have a board where they put job ads on, to let the students know about the salons looking for nail techs.stylists...It's gonna be really hard work, and cost alot of money...Good luck.I want to open a nail salon although I do not have a cosmetologist license?

What is the chemical formula for Salon Grafix Professional Freezing Hair Spray?

I need this Thursday morning at the latest, please. What is the chemical formula for Salon Grafix Professional Freezing Hair Spray?
Hair spray is a mixture of various chemicals. Water, alcohol, some conditioners, preservative agents, etc. If you've ever looked at a bottle of hairspray (or any beauty product!) you can see a long list of ingredients that are really hard to pronounce. You won't find a specific chemical formula for this, sorry.

Is dying your hair at a salon permanent?

When you dye your hair at a salon, is it permanent hair dye? Semi-permanent? Temporary? And could you give me details about whichever it is and dying over the current hair dye? Thanks! Is dying your hair at a salon permanent?
You can choose but most salons don't carry temporary color. Most salons have a wide range of semi permanent colors in stock, you just have to ask for it. But the main color that we use is permanent. If you are going darker it isn't a problem, they will just put the dark color on. But if you are going lighter and have ever dyed your hair before they are going to need to bleach first and then tone.Is dying your hair at a salon permanent?
they use permanent hair die. you can ask the stylist if she can use semi-permanent if you really want that. but they most likley on use the permanent stuff because it works best.

dying over current hair die i would definatley use a permanent and go to a salon depending on your hair type. because the color it is now and the color you might try to get it to might not take or hold or it could turn a different color.
typically at salons, natural colors are permanent but crazy colors like blue or purple are semi-permanent and fade/wash out quicker than permanent shades. it completely depends on the brand and color, and you can ask them.

temporary is generally not available, since it would be kind of a big waste of money to get your hair dyed at a salon with a dye that's going to wash out within 2 weeks.
It depends on what color they use. You would have to ask them when you go there. semi washes out in 4-6 weeks. Temp.. washes out maybe after two washes. I would say if you want to make sure u don't want to color to fade as quickly then do perm. If you are afraid of a color that u are not sure with (meaning as if you wont like it) use the semi.
well there are two kinds a dye which is permanent and there is a temperary which is called a rise. well u get to pick what you want when you get there. mostly u do a rise when u are not sure of the color want.
No all dye is temporary your hair will grow over it or grow out.

but dye will faid away as your hair grows and as times passes.
permanent, you need to wait for your hair to grow out to get rid of it.
    yesss, it is.

How do I open a hair salon in Sims 2 OFB?

I built a building as a community lot and I cant figure out how to put salon chairs, makeover stations and stuff like that... Can you help me buy stuff to put in there? (what items do i buy i mean)

Thnx sooo much! How do I open a hair salon in Sims 2 OFB?
all you techinically need for a Beauty Shop is the Salon Chair. There aren't any make over stations, you just need to purchase a chair. You can place counters, and mirrors to make it more realistic, but to have a functionable shop all you need is to the chair. AND the OFB store sign (open and closed sign, it looks like a little sign hanging by a string) That way, it establishes when the shop is open and close, and spawns customers.

I wanna work in a hair salon when I grow up?

I'm 15 years old right now

    in 8 th grade

how old do you have to be to work in a hair salon?

do you need a high school degree?

what is the pay like for someone that works in a salon like supercuts?

how many courses do you have to take for how long?

is there anything else i should know about working in a hair salon?

i have no experience except going to the salon myselfI wanna work in a hair salon when I grow up?
    first off:

to even enroll in a cosmetology program you must have a high school deploma. OR you have to be a senior in high school and then you can enroll in an r.o.p program: which means your going to school and going to cosmo school part time. which is still great cause your getting a head start.

to work in a hair salon you have to just finish cosmetology school which is 1600 hours. school is usually about from 8-4 or 9-5. but its always about 8 hours a day for 5 days.

cosmetology school helps you learn ALOT. i had no idea what i was in for but its soo great.

AND BY THE WAYYY, supercuts is a big no no. a pay at a good salon is about 30 to 40 an hour. depending on your skills and experience.

hope it helps =]I wanna work in a hair salon when I grow up?
well right now you can work in the hair salon, but only as someone who works the front desk. you can go to cosmetology school or some community colleges offer the certificate. you need to log so many hours and pass the state test before you get you license. i'm not sure of the pay.
yes you need a high school degree and you need to go to beauty school
How many times did u fail grade 8?

And yes you do need a high school degree

How much money does it cost to get hair fully dyed at a salon?

i want it professionally done because ive tried it soo many times at home before and it always washes out.. i have light brown hair and i've always wanted dark brown hair. i have medium thick hair and it is wavy and its about 5 inches below my shoulders. how much do u think it will cost at a regular quality salon? How much money does it cost to get hair fully dyed at a salon?
you'll have to ask yourself. Salons prices vary from city to city and store to store depending on area, clientelle, experience....

there are salons here in my town that ranging (for a hair cut, just the cut alone) 9 to 50 dollars.

but this is in NC. it could be WAY more expensive if you live somewhere like say Manhattan, or Los Angeles.

But one piece of advise, expensive isn't always better. Color is gonna fade no matter how you do it, home or proffesional. its how they get you to come back.

i would go check out some places like Sally's. we have them here in NC, im not sure if they are nation wide, but the concept is somewhere you can get the very same products that actual hair salons use. heck some products you have to have a dresser's license to purchase.

  • How long dose it take to get a good dark tan at a salon?

Hello im a guy and i want to get a good dark tan for the summer so im gonna be going at the tanning salon soon and was wondering how long it would take me to get a good dark tan going? How long dose it take to get a good dark tan at a salon?
It all depends on what bed you use. If you tend to burn easily in the sun, i dont recommend you should tan for more that 12 mins. you should start low. Also make sure you use tanning lotion specially the ones with bronzers, it helps to get tan better. i usually go tanning once or twice a week because i tan easily, but i also use a lotion by Aveno at home when i dont go tanning. It is not a tanning bed lotion, it is just a regular lotion that you can buy at walmart or any regular drug store. is Aveno continuous Radiance Moisturizing Lotion. At first when you put it on it doesnt smell but the longer is in your body the more it will start smelling like you just had a spray tan. Is not a bad smell but is not a good smell eather. i use it only if im not going out. Good Luck! How long dose it take to get a good dark tan at a salon?
It depends on the beds you use. I like the bronzing beds (not the low level ones) because you start looking tan faster. It took me only about 2 weeks of going every other day to get a really good tan going (I go in a bed called the cayenne or power of chi). Now that I have my base tan, I only go about once a week to keep the it up. Hope this helps!

If you use really good beds, like a sunsport or magic (both high pressure beds), you'll see results later that day.

It will also depend on how easily you tan...I tend to tan fairly easily

Where can I find a beauty salon in Marlow?

I live in Marlow, and looking for a good beauty salon for waxing as I've tried a few in marlow, and they have not been good experiences.Where can I find a beauty salon in Marlow?
Hi there, I'm the owner of The Nail Studio in central Marlow. We are 1 year old this week, and we have recently started waxing as a lot of our clients were complaining of the waxing in Marlow, and we were also missing a lot of business; we use special wax formulated to work especially well at low temperatures, an aloe based cream formulation thats really good for your skin.

So come to the Nail Studio - we'd love a chance to show you that waxing doesn't have to be painful or un-nerving! We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of the salon (I'm a perfectionist!) and the luxury feel...

We are also adding some other new treatments to our menu - we have been researching over the past 6 months some really exciting new treatments that we would love to offer to the local people of Marlow. Microdermabrasion; the skin care of the celebs (an advanced facial)..Our little nail salon in Marlow will also be introducing all types of face and body care; 1) a medical range for correcting many skin conditions and problems 2) a luxury pampering ';bliss'; range and 3) a unique brand called Moor Spa which offer some awesome body wraps and spa-like mudpacks!

Please check out http://www.marlownailstudio.com for more info, and to get to know more about us..we'd love to get to know you, so book yourself in now for some ME TIME!

Ps. As I mentioned, it's our 1 year birthday on Thursday 12th of March. Anybody in the local area that fancies popping in to enjoy the comfort of our salon is invited for champers and a big slice of cake! Anytime between 10am and 8pm - we hope to see you then.

How do you put tanning lotion on your back when going to tanning salon?

If your by yourself, and you want it to look even... what do you do?How do you put tanning lotion on your back when going to tanning salon?
Have a friend or relative or someone like that apply to your back before you get there.

OR you could just ask the people who work there. They dont care they would be happy to do it. Its part of their job. Just build your confidence ((:

Note that it not necessary but if you like it use it.

If this is your first time, make sure its the right lotion, not sunscreen or anyhting similar to it.

    Good Luck!!

xxx KariHow do you put tanning lotion on your back when going to tanning salon?
I never put it on my back and I've been tanning for years. Your back is closer to the bulbs in a lay-down bed, so my back usually gets tanner, anyway. Even though I use very dark bronzers, I never notice any weird lines between the front and back. If I don't use any lotion, however, I do notice that my back is darker than my front because of the proximity to the bulbs. Don't worry about it!
I can reach my back myself but if you can't and don't want to skip it or ask someone buy a wand to use. There are MANY kinds but heres one example:
You can ask the lady to do it for you =]
have someone put it on before you go to the tanning salon

What is a good color protecting salon-quality shampoo & conditioner?

I have naturally dirty blond hair but will be dying my hair a medium reddish-brown next week (at a salon). I have had problems in the past with darker hair colors fading quickly. What is a good salon-quality shampoo %26amp; conditioner that will prevent this? Please only suggest products that you have used, and had success with.

Thanks! What is a good color protecting salon-quality shampoo %26amp; conditioner?
REDKEN, and when changing hair color esp if our hair is long you gotta ave REDKEN Anti-Snap as well as the clor specifics, If you are not a fan of that then try ALterna (Hard to find in some areas but MY GOD is it worth the search. It is made of natural hemp oils... It makes yur hair very happy, unless you have naturally oily hair! My thrid choice is Biolage.

Shy away from Paul Mitchell...I know alot of people swear buy it, but a lot of them myself included find it drying.

I am a Cosmetology School Grad... Left the biz for greener pastures but am still an addict of product :)What is a good color protecting salon-quality shampoo %26amp; conditioner?
I use the Pantene Brown Expressions line shampoo and conditioner, and I love it. It holds my color and my hair is always really shiny.

I also used the John Freda Brilliant Brunette stuff for a couple of months and hated it. It made my hair greasy and limp. And the ';shine enhancer'; or whatever it is called just weighed my hair down and didn't do anything to make it shine.
    pantene pro v
    Pantein.
    Biolage
omg the product Nioxin works best for everything!! dont use pantene, matrix, or anything else because your color will wash out. biolage is ok too but its not as strong as nioxin. plus this product helps make your hair grow faster, healthier, %26amp; smoother. the link below will help you find a store near you. good luck!
Try Halo. I've used it with good success. It's nice because all the formulas are blended for colored hair, but they still address any other issues you have. Like dryness, or oil, or frizz. It smells good too. It is a salon product though, so you do have to buy it at a salon or at a supply place.
ghd shampoo and conditioner will work a treat in your hair, i had just dyed my hair blonde and it was like straw, actually worse, that was until i went to the hairdressers and she used the ghd shampoo and conditioner and instantly i felt a difference.my hair was as smooth as a babys bum and my hair seemed so shiny.

i couldint beleieve it , after spendidng hundreds of pound experimenting with hair gloss, shampoo after shampoo, conditionner, after conditioner i found miracle in a bottle.

believe me using it you wont be able to do without. the smell is gorgeous. its about 拢9 for shampoo and for the conditioner.

pls try it ,its worth it

What are the areas in a salon that are most susceptible to pathogenic bacteria?

Assuming the salon does nails, you'd expect the cuticle cutters and nail equipment (if it isn't autoclaved). This would be because a/ lots of bacteria around nails b/ while doing nail treatments, blood can be drawn

The receptionist area, especially telephone, keyboard or counters

    Restroom in salon

If the salon does shaving, on the razors

If the salon does eyebrows, on the tweezers

Generally you wouldn't have to worry so much about scissors for hair trimming because hair isn't live tissue.

How much does it cost to get a hot oil treatment at a salon?

Is it even worth it?How much does it cost to get a hot oil treatment at a salon?
    no its not worth it

you could do it inexpensivly at home. VO5 sells 3 tubes of oil for about 4$ ish, even less depending on where you go. ( I bought mine from wal-mart) The other option is using oils that you find at home. heres a real inexpensive way:

In a sandwich bag, pour 2 tsp of olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil or sesame oil. I prefer olive.

Next, tie the bag up tight so that all the oil is in one corner, at it forms a triangular shape. It will look like the tube thingy they use to keep iceing in for cakes.

Now, put the oil bag in a cup. Pour boiling water on top of it.Let it sit in there for 5 minutes ish.

In the mean time, brush your hair out, makeing sure theres no tangles.

Now go get the oil bag. carefully cut the tip, a very very small cut!!

now, squeeze out the oil onto your scalp, and rub in circular motions.

when your done, cover your hair with a hot towel, and sit with it for 40 minutes.

shampoo and condition the oil out!!

Your hair will feel shiny, lustourous and smooooth=)How much does it cost to get a hot oil treatment at a salon?
It is not worth it. You can do your own hot oil treatments at home and get the same/better results.

you cant use shampoo to lighten your hair.. you need to buy a root touch up.. or let your hair grow out because hair color is damaging. addicting, and hard to get back your naturalHow can I get rid of my brunette roots without going to the salon??
    Shave your head.
you can buy touch up kits.. or just buy another bottle of the color you used and there will be directions in it to fix your roots.

What is the best way to Die your hair without going to a salon like buying a kit from Walmart?

I have Blonde Straightish hair and I have never died it before my sister says it usually works better to use 2 different colorsWhat is the best way to Die your hair without going to a salon like buying a kit from Walmart?
If you want to mix two colors, you should go to a beauty supply. You would just buy the two colors you want to mix, and the developer. It's important to know which colors will work together.

Dyed my hair at home but can I still get highlights at the salon?

A few months ago, I had my hair highlighted. My hair is a brassy blonde and it was more a platinum shade. Last night, I decided to dye it all one color since I was sick of the contrast between the highlights and the dark roots. My hair came out fine-- it's back to it's natural hair color. But can I still get highlights done at the salon this week? Or should I wait since I just dyed it? Any help would be appreciated.Dyed my hair at home but can I still get highlights at the salon?
they say it's better if you wait at least a week but it doesn't really matter if you dye or have it highlights immediately. as long as you have deep conditioning treatment or something to prevent severe drying or damage to your hair.

PS. I also dye my hair often. I also did that before. Had my whole head colored then had highlights the next day. It's ok to do that. don't worryDyed my hair at home but can I still get highlights at the salon?
It really shouldn't be a problem withthe salon- but I don't think it is good for your hair to do so much to it in such a close time period. It'll probably get dried out.
yes just make sure that you tell them what you used so they can make sure they take it easy on your hair and know what to expect when they put the hilights in. They will prob. pull more gold and be a little tougher to get through, but a professional can do it, and they can just use a toner to make it not look orangy-maybe get a conditioning treatment too

next time just have them do the whole process-they can do it at the same time so that it would have been an easier process on your hair
Wait one week between color and highlights and be sure to inform the salon you have colored your hair so they can use a less abrasive bleaching agent. If your hair is dark you may want to go with low lights instead of high lights so the contrast when it grows out isn't so noticeable.
yeah go ahead i am the dying queen i do that all the time..my b/f is a hair stylist

  • Is it worth it to get fake nails taken off at the salon?

I decided I dont want acrylic nails anymore. Last time I took them off myself, they were all thin and peeling, it looked gross. When you get the acrylic taken off at the salon, do they actually do something other than just take them off to make the natural nail underneath look better? Is it worth it to get fake nails taken off at the salon?
if its a good nail salon they wont actually remove them. when i wanted mine off the salon filed them right down to my natural nail length and blended the bottom in, then left them to grow out, this keeps the natural nail underneath protected, the only way to salvage nails that have had acrylics on is too grow them out.Is it worth it to get fake nails taken off at the salon?
nope they sure don't all they do is take a tip and push it between your nail and the acrylic to pop it off... and it hurts! at least when you do it yourself if you need to take a second bc it hurts you can...Your better off to save the couple of bucks do it yourself
i think it is less painful to have them taken off at the salon. i think they even them out better too. however, your nails will still be thin and peel for a while from the damage of fake nails. i wore acrylic nails for about a year and my real nails have never been the same.
no they don't... the best thing to do is get a bowl of hot water (as hot as you can stand) and add some nail varnish remover ..... soke your nails for about 20 minutes and then they should just pop off :).... put a layer of nail strengthener on them after... :), hope it helps xD

How can I make my hair straight without a straightener and do i at home with our going to a salon?

I am at home and i usually never wear my hair down but i took it down after it dried after my shower and it was so pretty but kinda puffy and it had a kink in it. And I am going to the movies soon and i need ideas of how to straighten it!! :)How can I make my hair straight without a straightener and do i at home with our going to a salon?
with a blow drier and a paddle brushHow can I make my hair straight without a straightener and do i at home with our going to a salon?
Try a blow dryer on high heat setting; and a round paddle brush. After you are finished drying your hair, ';blow dry'; it again, but set the blow dryer to the cold setting. This should prevent frizzies.

Before and after blow drying your hair, use a leave-in conditioner and anti-frizz or shine serum, respectively.

Can I go to a salon to get my natural hair color back?

I normally have lighter brown-auburn-ish hair, and I dyed it dark brown with a reddish tint, and before that i dyed it a medium ash-brown. I really hate it, and want my original hair color back! If I go to a salon, can they restore my original color? Please help! Can I go to a salon to get my natural hair color back?
Yeah, they just strip the color out of your hair =]

Can I go to a salon to get my natural hair color back?
The only way to get it lighter would be to highlight it (using bleach). You can't lift a dark color off the hair with a lighter color without striping the hair first which is pretty hard on your hair. Quit dying it and let it grow out!
absolutely, and I'm so proud of you for going to get it done professionally. There is no way you could do it at home and get the results your looking for
    i did the same thing!

i had light brown hair and i dyed it black. now i can't get it to be any lighter

Do salons carry Level 1 hair dye?

Like L'oreal color pulse etc that fades after one or 2 weeks.Do salons carry Level 1 hair dye?
Color doesn't just fade in one to two weeks. How long a color will last has just as much to do with the health and porosity of the hair you are putting it on as it does the type of color you use. The more porous the hair, the more color can be absorbed and therefore the longer it can last. Level 1 is usually described as blue/black and with that much pigment I would not count on all of the color being gone in such a short period of time.

Is it okay to bring my one month old to the hair salon with me?

I have an appointment next week to get my hair dyed %26amp; trimmed at the salon and I wanted to know if it's okay to bring my baby along with me. Maybe the fumes from the hair dye would be bad for him? Thanks. Is it okay to bring my one month old to the hair salon with me?
NO way, I wouldn't chance it. I just got my hair highlighted the other day and I felt like I was high from the fumes!!! Definitely find someone to watch your little one! Good luck with the new do!Is it okay to bring my one month old to the hair salon with me?
Doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

A lot of people go to the salon to get relaxed and pampered (even if it is just their hair) and a infant there will just be annoying if he wakes up.

Plus, your child will still need your attention and it would be hard taking care of him while you are occupied with your hair. The fumes will not be so good for his little lungs too (especially if they have a nail center in there as well)

Can someone come along with you to watch him and perhaps walk around outside with him if he starts to get antsy?
When I got my hair done after my last baby I had my mom come with me and take my daughter for a walk in the stroller and she only brought her into the salon to get fed, Hair stylists often develop respiratory problems from all the fumes so why take a chance exposing your little one.
why would you even want to? take your time to relax and enjoy the pampering that you deserve without the baby needing you every 5 minutes. relax and go alone.
I don't think so cause' he/she might breath in the chemicals.
absolutely not... it wouldnt be safe for a 5 year old... the fumes are very damaging to still developing lungs
    Dont take him
If there is a separate waiting area and someone else to sit with your infant, I'd say yes. But, you're right, the fumes from the dyes are harmful to your son.
Nah, don't do it. Doesn't sound good.

Is there an African-American Salon that specializes in natural hair in Charleston, SC?

I'm growing my relaxer out and would like to find a stylist that works with natural hair.Is there an African-American Salon that specializes in natural hair in Charleston, SC?
Hmmm, you should be able to find one in Charleston, but it's getting harder and harder to find someone who can do natural hair without breaking the bank. As a military spouse, I have natural hair and can't find anyone that can do my hair as we move from city to city. I used to live in Charleston, but I don't know anyone who does hair.

What is the average salary for a receptionist at a very Upscale salon?

i have a job interview tomorrow for a receptionist position at an upscale salon. what is the average salary for that position? (state of new jersey)What is the average salary for a receptionist at a very Upscale salon?
I would say 9-10 dollars an hour. I am in NJ and I have seen some ads and that is what they are paying. What is the average salary for a receptionist at a very Upscale salon?
A receptionist is a receptionist, upscale or not. It's not a very high paying position.

Average around 7-9 dollars per hour. A few manage to make around 15 per hour. But that is based on experience and the place of business.

What does your hairdresser say before the WASH your HAIR at the SALON?

Do they ask if you want a shampoo or do they just do it?What does your hairdresser say before the WASH your HAIR at the SALON?
Generally they ask if you would like your hair shampooed. At some salons it is included in the price at some it is extra. I'd go for the shampoo because it feels great. What does your hairdresser say before the WASH your HAIR at the SALON?
well they usually ask you if you have already washed your hair, of you say yes obviously they won't do it again. if you say no they wash your hair with shampoo (usually twice) and condition it after... until it's squeaky clean :)

they also give your head a scalp massage it feels so nice! lol
There's not a hairdresser, stylist, or barber that would not rather cut clean hair. It probably depends on their own personal policy. If you've recently (right before you go) washed your hair, speak up.
My hairdresser has been mine for 7 years but when I first started getting my hair done she never asked. She just did!

How much would you pay to get your nails done at a salon?

I personally have not been to a salon to get my nails done because I have the salon kit stuff, so I do it really really good myself. But I want to know how much you have paid or willing to pay to get it done.

No stupid answers like $0.How much would you pay to get your nails done at a salon?
I don't like putting FAKE nails on, so I naturally grew my nails out. I save a lot! Acrylics are overrated and ugly in my opinion.

    ANYWAYS! to answer your question...

A manicure is around $8 here in Southern CA.

    A pedicure is around $18. If I want a design, there's an additional $5.

When I want a NATURAL french tip mani or pedi, there's an additional $5.

And then the tip, you can't forget that! I give my girl around $3 for a manicure, $5 for pedi, and $7 if she does both at the same time.

It's good to have just one girl to do your nails. You can build a relationship with her, and she'll know what you like and your sensitivities.

I hope I helped! How much would you pay to get your nails done at a salon?
Of course depending on where you live it could be cheaper or higher, but I always get a full set with french tips and pay anywhere from 23 to 32 bucks. They have different styles though depending on what you are looking for. I want to try pink and white set..they run close to 40-45. I would pay that much though if it was a good job. But on average for fills I wouldn't want to pay more than 20.
DEPENDS on what you want..do you want fake nails? a full set of acrylic will be 25 dls. solar..35...gel 50dls..an average..if you just need polish maybe 10 dls or french tip 15...it depends to if it's a fancy salon or a regular one like the ones vietnamies own..they are the best and the prices are most of the time fair.
I once paid $26. It was more than I wanted to pay but they did a great job and it was for a special occasion. I say average is anywhere between $20-$50 depending on the salon and what's included.
depends what i want done, for a mani + french tip i wouldnt pay more than $10.

pedi + french tip about 14 is the max(and thats with a high tech spa chair)
